CHAPTER 12
Caesar
It was draining me dry trying to figure out who would come shoot up my establishment. We didn’t have enemies, well not that we knew of. We left the game clean and on good terms with everyone because we passed it all to Ty and didn’t want him to have any unnecessary beefs. Whoever shot Charm and killed my seed had started a war that they would not win.
I got to her room and my eyes teared up looking at her laying in that hospital bed. We were supposed to be in our new home, making love by then. Instead she was laid up with a bunch of IV’s and wires around her.
“Hey beautiful, how are you feeling?”
“Better now that you are here. I’m so sorry baby, I didn’t know. Had I known I was pregnant—”
I cut her off before she could finish, “its ok baby, and it’s not your fault. We can always make another baby, we can’t make another you. I’m just happy you’re still here.”
“You sound like Sen,” she laughed.
I asked her, “Do you remember seeing anything, a car, a face, a license plate, anything?”
She shook her head no and apologized again.
“You have nothing to be sorry for Charm. The police will be here shortly because it’s routine for them to ask questions after a shooting. I was just trynna help you.” That was a complete lie. I wasn’t telling the pigs shit. I wanted to know if she saw anything so that I would be able to get a jumpstart on whoever the hell did that to her. I looked over at Charm and saw she was resting. I called Dave and told him to grab the tapes from club and start going over them to see what he could find. I called Ty and asked him to keep his ears to the street. Somebody was bound to slip up and start talking. I finally drifted off to sleep and I woke to the nurse coming in to check Charm’s vitals. She asked me if I wanted to go get some coffee while she checked her out and changed her dressing. I didn’t go get coffee but I stepped out and made a few phone calls.
Dave answered on the first ring sounding as if he had been up all night waiting on my call.
“Cousin, what’s the verdict?”
“I couldn’t find anything till about twenty minutes before Jay and Sharnell walked up on us. Prior to them coming in the club, there was a winter white Lexus parked in the parking lot. I couldn’t see who is inside but as Jay and Sharnell walked past, she gave a head nod as if she was giving a signal to them. About five minutes after the girls step outside, the Lexus pulls out and turns down the block, it comes back around and all you see is the sparks from the gunfire. Can’t see anybody’s face and they have the license plates behind a tint.”
“So we can at least say that Sharnell if not both her and Jay, have something to do with this.
